Advocacy to Alleviate Homelessness, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing resources and education to alleviate homelessness in Wake and the surrounding counties of North Carolina.
Their work runs from the immediate to the long term. On the near end, help finding temporary shelter and access to community food hubs. On the far end, financial education and literacy, budget management, and credit repair — the unglamorous groundwork that turns a temporary place to sleep into an address you can keep.
Housing assistance sits between the two, and it is where most of the difficulty lives. Finding somewhere to sleep tonight is hard. Finding somewhere a landlord will rent to you next year is harder, and it is the part of the problem this organization was built to work on.
